IMPACT REPORT 2022

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our first Impact Report, showcasing our progress and the meaningful changes we've made to our business.

Our commitment to driving positive change and making a real impact on our community and the world is at the heart of everything we do. In this report, you'll find a comprehensive overview of the initiatives and projects that have contributed to our mission.

Woven with care and commitment to a sustainable future

Sustainability is sewn into everything we do. That’s because we understand that to be behind better bedding, you need to be a better brand too. Across all of our operations we always aim to advance, whether that’s improving the thermal efficiency of our duvets, or engaging employees in reducing energy and waste, sustainability is always switched on in our minds and in our manufacturing.

Our award-winning European eco-factory

Purpose built for our business, our factory enables us to develop concepts, trial and manufacture to deliver specific, bespoke product but allied to complement our range.

Because to set the standard like we do, on comfort, durability and ease of care, our products and production needed scale. With over 2200sqm of manufacturing space, 3000sqm of warehousing and connections to cargo routes, we’re able to do just this. But never at the cost of sustainability.

FUTUREPROOFED FOR SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainable production means the highest standard of factory design to significantly reduce our environmental impact and our carbon footprint, compared to typical industry practices. This means we have;

This means we use resources and energy effectively along with the elimination/reduction of solid waste and do not use any toxic raw materials or produce any toxic emissions.

We have moved away from traditional textile methodologies and use ultrasonic which removes threads and reduces waste by up to 5% whilst processing. All processing is measured via calibrated scales ensuring a quality product at the ideal optimal weight. By increasing our use of recycled raw material we design products that are sustainable and are moving towards 100% recycled packaging.

By moving away from traditional textile methodologies we have minimised the energy consumption per unit as less equipment is used to convert, and the new technologies are less energy consuming.

Ethical sourcing. Compassionate manufacturing.

Having our very own Eco-Factory ensures that we grow in a responsible way, minimising the impact on our planet by running on 100% renewable energy, where 100% of our waste is recycled.

As a sustainable manufacturer, we are constantly searching for new ways to reduce the ecological footprint of our processes, products and services. And we are held accountable for all our factory activities through third party audits and evaluation, and are certified by some of the most stringent standards in sustainability. In 2022 our parent company Trendsetter became a Certified B Corporation®, a worldwide benchmark for sustainable companies that are balancing purpose and profit.

Throughout our production line, we’re connected to the gold-standard of sustainable sourcing, helping us stay ahead of the market by guaranteeing both complete quality, and conscious, compassionate manufacturing.

Every thread of our cotton comes via our membership with the Better Cotton Initiative, an institution helping to transform cotton production globally by developing higher quality cotton as a sustainable mainstream commodity.

Certified by the Global Recycle Standard

Our rigorous recycling standards are approved and certified by the Global Recycle Standard (GRS). By using post-consumer plastic waste, that we then shred, sterilise, melt and extrude into a soft and fluffy fibre for our duvets and pillows, we meet the high standards of GRS. An international body responsible for setting requirements for recycled content, social and environmental practices and chemical restrictions.
And our longer term ambition is to find a solution to recycling our products at their end of life, helping to conserve the value of the materials we use for as long as possible.

Proud to be sealed by Downpass®

Our Down and Feather too comes with a stamp of certified sustainability. We are proud to be the first filled bedding company in the UK to carry the prestigious Downpass® seal, certifying independent auditing and assurance that our suppliers never live-pluck their animals, animals that are by-products of the food industry and are always fully traceable and tested against their animal-welfare claims.

Certified B Corporation®

In 2022 The Fine Bedding Company Ltd became a Certified B Corporation®. This certification is the beginning of our next chapter, it is a promise from us to you that at every stage in the process, we are thinking about our actions and their effect on the planet.

Social responsibility

We are a socially conscious business, which means we care not just about the planet, but about the welfare of our people. That’s why our Estonian factory operations have been carefully considered to ensure we are delivering safe, secure employment to the local community. We enforce stringent policies and procedures that ensure the highest level of environmental responsibility, whilst supporting communities.

Wider than our own people, we’re also proud partners of some incredible initiatives working hard in the UK and abroad to deliver a brighter future to many thousands of people in need of their support
